Church

This was a beautiful church I found in France on holiday. There's a cool story about what happened to it during World War 2. There used to be a golden statue of the Virgin Mary on top of the church. Early in 1915, the tower was damaged and the statue toppled over, but it didn't fall. After a few months, the British defenders developed a superstition about the statue and said that the war would end when the statue fell. For over three years, the Nazis tried in vain to knock her of her perch, and for three more years the war dragged on. In 1918, the Nazis finally captured the town and used the tower as a vantage point to shell the British. The British fired back and demolished the tower. Shortly after, the war ended. Good story (when told properly) anyway, I just felt like sharing this. Hope you all like the pic. It was a lovely day ^^
